The Happily Ever After

I loved fairy tales when I was younger. I absolutely treasured the stories of Cinderella, of Aurora, of Snow White amongst others. I loved the idea of a prince charming coming to my rescue, the idea of a fairy godmother to magically turn me beautiful- heck even talking animals with whom I could sing and dance. Then reality came crashing down.

Reality is unfortunately not black and white but just a jumbled mass of grey. People are not good like Aurora and evil like Maleficent but just a varying combinations of those. Playing the damsel in distress would only make you weaker and you will perish even quicker. I realized there is no prince charming who is gonna save you. There is no fairy godmother who could make you look prettier. Also, sadly there is no talking animals to lighten up your mood!

The thing is; the only person who is gonna save you is YOU. You are the one who can make you feel prettier. You are the one who can save yourself from your own destruction. You have the power to make yourself truly happy. You are your own saviour. It’s you- always YOU. Not some stupid prince charming and sure as hell not some freakin’ fairy god mother.

When you finally realize this, hopefully it’s not too late. Hopefully, you haven’t lost the entirety of yourself trying to conform to the unattainable society standards. Hopefully, your soul hasn’t been broken into pieces so small that they cannot even be picked up. Hopefully there is still time for you to heal, to save yourself.
